Katie Kelly

Our Founder

Inclusive Sports Participation Ambassador

Katie is passionate about access to sports for all Australians, particularly children with a disability. This journey started in her teens when she wrote about the lack of coverage for women in sport, an article which was published in the Australian Sports Commission Women's newsletter. At the age of 20 she was added to a Sport and Recreational Advisory Committee with the Armidale City Council. Katie is an Ambassador with Usher Kids Australia and Royal Deaf and Blind Institute for Children.

Keen Commitment to Community Engagement

Katie initiated the establishment of two professional running events as part of the RunNSW series. This was a lifelong goal to see her hometowns of Casino and Armidale with their own Fun Runs. She was also involved in setting up the Darwin parkrun and played a part in the development of parkrun in Armidale. Katie has served on the Armidale Council Disability Committee and worked as Media Officer for the Australian Blind Cricket Team and the Australian Deaflympic Team.

Australian Paralympic Gold Medal Athlete

In February 2015, Katie gained selection on Triathlon Australia's elite Paratriathlon program after she was diagnosed as Legally Blind due to a deaf/blind condition known as Usher Syndrome. After winning the Paratriathlon PT5 (Vision Impaired) World Championships in September 2015 with Michellie Jones as her Guide, Katie and Michellie then went on to win Australia's first Paratriathlon medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, where they won the Gold medal.

Experienced Sports Marketing Professional

Katie has a deep commitment to projects that promote healthier lifestyles across all spectrum's of life. It is this passion that led her into a sports marketing career with some of Australia's leading sporting organisations including the National Rugby League, Melbourne Storm, ANZ Stadium, Northern Territory Government Department of Sport and Recreation and Athletics NSW. Since Rio, Katie has worked with the Australian Paralympic Committee in a Senior Marketing and Athlete Liaison role.
