This morning Sport Access Foundation announced exclusively on Libby Trickett OAM OLY and Georgie Trickett's Sportish Podcast, the launch of the 2025 Sport Access Foundation grants.
Sport Access Foundation Founder and Director, two times Paralympian, and Paralympic Gold Medallist Katie Kelly OAM PLY shared with Sportish, the opening of the 9th consecutive year of offering sporting grants.
Sport Access Foundation is excited to be launching our 9th year of grants and playing its role in the increasing participation and engagement of sports for people with disability.
These grants come on the back of record highs in engagement and following of our Paralympians at Paris Paralympics last year, the recent ground breaking first for Para-sport including the first ever International Women’s Blind Cricket Series played on home soil, the growth of para sports including Surfing, Wheelchair Rugby League and AFL, as well as the first ever All Abilities Surf Life Saving Championships and the growth of Intellectual Disability classification in Triathlon.
Over the last 9 years, Sport Access Foundation has provided grants to recipients who are now engaged in some of these programs mentioned and many more.
Katie was excited to be sharing the latest round with Australian Gold Medallist and Olympian Libby Trickett and her co-host Georgie Trickett, co-founders of Play On Media (https://www.playonmedia.com.au/), the impact the Grants have made from grassroots to high performance.
“Six of our recipients went to Paris Paralympics last year, and including
We are incredibly proud of all our recipients, and particularly our recreational and grassroot athletes who are given that extra financial boost to ensure their sport is more accessible”
Libby shared the importance of grants for all young Australians, and what she and Georgie hear so often in their Sportish and Play On communities: “We know there is so much work to do for clubs and our communities to be more accessible, and we appreciate what the Sport Access Foundation does to remove the financial barriers by offering grants. Katie the work you do, not only in grant support, but in educating the nuances of unconscious bias and the importance of inclusive language, as well as inclusion officers, is critical to ensuring everyone is made to feel welcome.”
