Katie launched her 2018 season at the ITU Para Triathlon World Cup in Devonport on Saturday 16 February.

It was a race of many first, as Katie competed with her Guide Briarna Silk in their first race together. Katie said the race was a real grind given the strong wind on the 20km ride.

“It was a great way to kick start the season which will hope fully culminate in the ITU World Championships on the Gold Coast in September and continue later in the year with some World Champ qualifying races.”

The Australian Paratriathlon team had a solid day out, with eight gold medals out of possible ten.

First to cross the finish line was Australian PTS5 athlete Josh Kassulke.

All eyes are now on the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, which will feature the Wheelchair event. The Australian paratriathlon team includes fellow Gold Coast training partners of Katie’s, five time World Champion Bill Chaffey and Nic Beveridge.

In the Women’s category, Australia’s reigning world champion Emily Tapp is a favourite.
