Sport Access Foundation has today announced the opening of its 2026 Sporting Grants, marking 10 years of supporting young Australians with disability to participate and thrive in sport.

Founded by Paralympic Gold Medallist Katie Kelly OAM PLY, Sport Access Foundation has become a national leader in helping remove financial barriers for children and young people with disability to engage in sport and recreation.

Founding Partnership with BlueScope

BlueScope has been a founding partner of Sport Access Foundation for 10 years, playing a pivotal role in the organisation's mission to create inclusive sporting opportunities. Through their sustained commitment, BlueScope has helped improve outcomes for young Australians with disability by enabling access to equipment, training, and competitive opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach. Their partnership has been instrumental in supporting the Foundation's growth from its inception to becoming a nationally recognised leader in disability sport accessibility.

Over the past decade, 828 children have applied for support, with $103,000 in grants distributed across Australia. A total of 101 young Australians have received individual grants, alongside 20 grants to sporting clubs and community groups that have improved accessibility in their programs and facilities.

Sport Access Foundation's impact extends to the elite level, with five past grant recipients representing Australia at the Paralympic Games, collectively winning seven Paralympic medals and setting three Oceania and five Australian records.

"Reaching our 10th year is an incredible milestone," said Katie Kelly. "Every grant represents a child given the opportunity to play, belong, and discover what's possible. We're proud of the legacy built over the past decade and excited for what's ahead."

Applications for the 2026 Sport Access Foundation Grants are now open to young Australians with disability aged 7–17 years. Grants support costs such as equipment, travel, uniforms, and competition fees, helping ensure sport is accessible for all.

Applications close on 31 July. To learn more or apply, visit https://www.sportaccessfoundation.org.au/what-we-do/2026-grants
